There must be something in the water. For what will likely be the one and only time in my life, it looks like I have something in common with Victoria Beckham.

And Natalie Portman. And Marion Cotillard. And Jewel, Kate Hudson, Selma Blair, and Alicia Silverstone. And, no, it’s not a fabulous sense of style.

It’s a baby bump.

Yes, folks, the BCRL family is literally growing; this July, my husband and I are expecting our first child. Which should make the next few months increasingly (haha!) interesting. Of the many ways in which pregnancy can be a challenge (as well as a blessing), not the least is the way that it forces you to re-evaluate your relationship with your body, your sense of identity, and, yes, your style. While I have no plans to turn this into any sort of maternity blog, I’m sure that I will be occasionally writing about my experiences with the dark side of fashion – a.k.a. maternity wear – and the triumphs (and disasters) of my quest to welcome motherhood in style.

Let the adventures begin!
