I’m back to Dior for this week’s manicure pick. From its current holiday collection, Exquis is a, well, exquisite cool taupe with a gold shimmer. I love how it glistens in natural light …
… although the shimmer really shows up under bright lights!
I’m a big fan of the short, stubby Dior brush, which makes application a dream. Exquis had a nice, creme formula, opaque in two coats. I experienced a fair bit of tip wear, again, but I’m starting to think this is more of a “me” problem than an issue with the nail polishes I’ve been wearing. Perhaps something about my gel nails just doesn’t agree with the polish. Or it may be the fact that I always end up rushing through the application, the sound of my son making his boredom known ringing loudly in my ear. Ahem.
For my “inspired by” outfit, I picked out a BCBG jacket with a long history.
Originally part of a suit, it’s been languishing in the back of my closet for a couple of years now; I’d never been fond of the matching skirt, and the jacket, while an interesting cut, was a bit difficult to mix & match with other things. It was on its way out with my most recent consignment pile, but had an eleventh hour reprieve. When it came down to it, I just couldn’t part with it. I split the suit, and consigned only the skirt. I’m glad I kept the jacket because it’s really a lovely, unique piece.
I’m especially fond of the iridescent lining.
[Total coincidence: a few weeks back, I saw this jacket on an old episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, worn by the suspect’s defence lawyer in a pivotal final scene in which it’s revealed that the lawyer is actually the killer – twisty! Has this ever happened to you – seeing a piece of clothing you own on TV? It’s a bit jarring, like seeing a place you know, say Vancouver or Toronto locale masquerading as (usually) New York. Interestingly, the same thing happened the other day, while I was watching this TED TV talk. I’m pretty sure the speaker is wearing the brown version of a J Crew cardigan that hangs in my closet (mine is olive coloured).]
