Spring’s Roses Ultimes de Chanel collection brought us 4 new shades, including this week’s manicure, Frisson. A delicate, warm pink with gold shimmer, Frisson is oh-so-pretty! The shimmer is honest-to-goodness sparkle (a la Cosmic Violine and Gondola), not the kind that fades away on the nail.
I tried hard to capture the sparkle of Frisson, but didn’t do a very good job; you’ll have to trust me when I say that it is much more eye-catching – without being at all gaudy – in person.
Frisson is similar to another shade I have shown before, Mica Rose. It is a warmer pink, though, whereas Mica Rose is more blue-toned. The shimmer in Mica Rose is also less evident. But like it, Frisson is a sheer-ish polish. In the photos above, I am wearing two coats and, yes, there is VNL. For some reason, I don’t mind it with this polish. I like how marshmallow-y soft it looks. The formula is also much better than Mica Rose, in my opinion; it is more opaque at two coats, flows better for me, and dries a little bit faster.
For the inspired outfit, I wanted an airy colour to complement the softness of Frisson; the pale seafoam colour of my H&M Grecian-style dress was the perfect match.
It’s not quite summer yet, so I knew I would have to add a layer to make the dress weather-appropriate. Because of the asymmetrical neckline of the dress, picking a topper to go with it can be tricky. For me, a jacket with a high neckline – which hides, and thus doesn’t compete with the neckline of the dress – is ideal. I like the contrast between the heavier weight of the tweed-like material on this Costa Blanca jacket, and the lightweight silk of the dress. I decided to add a woven belt to add extra emphasis at the waist, and tie the two pieces together. Caramel brown flats complete the outfit.
Of course, I can’t forget the accessories – an armful of bracelets!
