The Glamorous Life

What I Wore: Monday Morning

T-shirt, Old Navy; cardigan, J. Crew Factory; jeans, Cleo (via consignment); scarf, Aldo Outlet

Really, this could be any Monday morning. And they say there isn’t truth in fashion blogging. Well, if you can call this a fashion blog. But here it is, folks: what an average stay-at-home-mom wears on an average day. An average day when I go out, that is. You don’t want to see what I wear when I stay home all day. Really, you don’t.

My favourite part of this outfit is the scarf, hands down. I hunted for a scarf like this (large waffle knit, not scratchy, infinity style, under $15) for what seemed like months, but more likely was a week or two. It was frustrating, I tell you! I finally found one that matched 90% of my specifications, minus the colour. I wanted black and found this burgundy colour … which turned out to be surprisingly versatile. The universe provides what you didn’t even know you wanted!

The Amazing $1.50 Skirt

What I Wore: Mommy Business

Skirt and jacket, Old Navy; sweater, J. Crew (via eBay); shirt, J. Crew Factory; boots, Hunter; bag, MbMJ (via eBay)

The title says it all: this skirt cost a whopping $1.50 on the clearance rack at Old Navy. I’m digging the faded chambray, and the elastic waistband (though not the fact that said waistband is perpetually twisting the wrong way). Paired with flannel tights, it’s a feasible option for the days when I simply. cannot. wear. pants. yet. again. Dramatic pause for effect.

I’m also digging this field jacket, also from Old Navy. I was eyeing the J. Crew version a while back, but couldn’t justify the price. This was a literal fraction of the price (like, 1/8 or something), and it looks pretty good. I’ve gotten a surprising amount of wear out of it already, most of it in Vancouver. I’m excited for the possibilities, come spring.

What I Wore: Weekend Family Visit

Vest, Old Navy; shirt, J. Crew Factory; pants, NYDJ (via eBay); booties, Target; bag, Target

Truth time: this is basically my “everyday” outfit, every day. Or nearly enough. Just add a massive parka. I didn’t want to assault your eyes with it, so I froze my tush off for the pic. The sacrifices I make for this blog, I tell ya …

Boy, I hate pleather bags! Did I already complain about this Phillip Lim for Target bag? Probably, but here it goes again. I love the colour and the style, but the quality is terrible. Threads coming loose all over the place, loads of colour transfer. No bueno. Not even for $35. Remind me of that next time Target has a designer collab.
