What I Wore: One Day in the Not-Too-Distant Past

bird print blouse
Skirt and cardigan, J. Crew Factory; blouse, eBay; bag, MbMJ (via consignment)

Technically, this is a rerun outfit, or at least 75% of one. But since I never posted the original*, voila!

The more I wear this blouse, the more it gets on my nerves. It’s nothing but static and slippery polyester. Wearing for a couple of hours here and there is all fine and good, but I don’t think it’s something I can handle for 10+ hours at work. It’s my fault for buying damn polyester in the first place (and $5 polyester at that), but it’s also that stupid pattern’s fault for making me even consider it in the first place. The birds are to blame, I tell you!

Anyway, I think I’m going to ditch the blouse come fall. Getting my money’s worth in the meantime shouldn’t be too difficult. And then – yay! – I can justify buying a new top. I, ahem, have some ideas already … and you are surprised not at all.

Bonus pic because I want to show off my bag:

MbMJ Totally Turnlock Teri

* Okay, fine, here’s the other outfit. Technically it’s only 50% similar, because that’s a totally different skirt, I swear.

  1. Yessss.. Let’s blame the pattern for making you spend $5 to buy it πŸ˜‰

Honestly this is why I have told myself to stay strong and disciplined. NO POLYESTER. NO CRAPPY FABRICS.

Natural ones — wool, cotton, cashmere, etc are the best.

Others that are acceptable: Viscose, Tencel, Rayon

.. but if the top is MOSTLY polyester, forget it, I’ll hate myself for having wasted money on it and get really annoyed…

  2. Shirt twins! the static drives me crazy as well. But I just love the pretty birds so I can’t make myself give it up. πŸ™‚

  3. I think what Anthropologie is to me, J Crew is to me… and I’m going to say a similar thing to you… I think I need to start browsing J Crew’s website more often than I currently do. Aviary is a weakness of mine

    • Florals and birds, man – I can’t resist ’em. Oh, and butterflies too. I have the style sensibilities of a 12 year old πŸ˜‰

I have a love-hate thing for Anthropologie. I love a lot of its aesthetic, but the prices enrage me. And buying off eBay has been hit-and-miss for me, size-wise. I wish Anthro had a Factory store, like J. Crew does. I would shop the HELL out of it!
