… and I cannot lie. Just kidding. No, really; I’m actually kidding because I don’t like bows all that much. Not anymore, in any event. But I am keeping this Eva Franco skirt around because I always get a ton of compliments when I wear it. I’m shallow, what can I say. It’s a good thing that it looks so cute, because the fit and the quality are rather underwhelming. The ____ fabric is on the fragile side; the kind that starts falling apart at the seams way too early. The fit is really weird. This is a size 2 and fits like a loose 6, perhaps even an 8. I had to pin the waistband a bit in the back to make it sit closer to my natural waist, which is annoying. The bow is placed exactly down the middle of the skirt, and I can’t quite tell if it’s intended to be asymmetrical or if the skirt is twisting away from its lining in a strange fashion. I probably should have been pickier when I bought it (at my local consignment store) but … eh, it’s cute. Still, consider all this your warning if you’re inclined to chase it down online.

The top is a bit of a compromise too. It’s (thrifted) H&M and the quality is so-so, but I love the colour and the plain style. I want the same top in each one of my core wardrobe colours … in a sturdy, non-transparent silk … please and thank you. Sigh. I’ll probably never find these magical tops, so I’ll settle for this one in the meantime. It’s a great basic for a lot of my statement print pieces. Big bow or not.

  1. I said when you posted this to IG that I loved it and all this time later I still love it. Probably one of my favourite recent workwear OOTDs of yours tbh. The plain gree, the florals, the big bow, it all works for me πŸ™‚

      • Thank you! Are there any others in edmonton that are worth a stop? I will be there in august and can’t wait! I’ve just come back from Oakville Ontario and they have amazing consignment stores but my fav was called By Consignment Boutique. They sell amazing clothes and high end bags. They have some pieces online as well. Thanks for the info! I’m new to pre loved clothes and you are my inspiration!

        • There is Vespucci downtown but it skews older and it’s pricier. There is also Blogger Armoire which is trendier and more high end but, again, pricier. There are a few others but I’m not familiar with them.

  2. I love the look of the skirt (even if it sounds like a flawed piece, alas), it’s so pretty! It goes with the forest green top very well.

  3. Try Eileen Fisher matte silk tees- come in a rainbow of colors and they wear like iron. And they can be laundered in a he washing machine!

  4. Dannggggg! You are looking fine. I think it’s the color scheme because that cognac color really sets off your skin tone but the pattern and such break it up in a way that’s very becoming. It wouldn’t have worked if it was a solid tan skirt. I also like that green top on you. It all goes together so well but if I saw it on a hanger I totally wouldn’t have expected it to look so good. So really it’s just a testament to your outfit skills! You know what works for you.

  5. I recently discovered your blog and have very much enjoyed it. Fashion blogs are mostly an escape for me in that I can look at many more than I can ever make use of. But your ability to focus on style, especially professional, without breaking the bank or getting too corporate really resonates with me.

And I love (and am jealous 😊) of your bag collection.
