June was a heck of a month. First of all, it felt like it was about three years long. I feel like I aged at least twice as much. I always know when I reach the limit of my stress tolerance because my body starts to mis-function; this time around, my IBS symptoms went into over-drive. Between dealing with a potentially life-threatening medical issue in my immediate family, juggling a number of hearings at work (including one out of town), and accepting a new position (!!!), this month was a doozy. I’ve never been more grateful for an opportunity to get the hell out of dodge for a few days as I was at the tail end of June, when my husband and I hopped on a plane to Palm Springs. Stay tuned for some recap posts.

There were some real winners in the mix this month, #1, 3, 7, 10 and 13 in particular. A closet purge is probably in my future, though I am finding it hard to motivate myself to do it. Some of my less favourite outfits happen because I haven’t been able to let go of pieces that don’t suit my current aesthetic as well, but which I guilt myself into wearing because, well, they’re hanging there in my closet. I *know* I will be happier if I let go of some of the “dead weight” but the sentimental ties are strong. However, this summer is all about fresh starts for me, so I have a feeling there will be changes coming to my closet as well.

10 Comments on What I Wore: June 2017

    • The health issue is not something that will be resolved in the short term, but they are in good hands and we are hopeful for a positive resolution.

I am actually changing everything at work: jobs, firms, practice areas. It’s a huge change, but I am very excited. Thanks for the well wishes!

  1. Your monthly recaps and thrifting posts are my favorites. I always pick my favorite outfits before reading yours in order to compare and was surprised today to find we had none in common. My favorites were 2, 4, 5, 12 & 15. Our tastes and styles are fairly similar although I tend to wear dresses or skirts daily, so no surprise that I favor those on you as well. I also purchase nearly all of my clothes second hand and so have a much better wardrobe than I could afford to purchase retail. Please keep writing and I’ll keep reading. Thank you,
    Karen

    • I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying the recaps even when we don’t necessarily agree on things 😉 I love writing the blog, and the best part is and has always been connecting with the readers. Thanks for following along!

  2. I’m sorry to hear June was so rough—hopefully the job overhaul will bring positive new changes.

And for such a challenging month, you killed it with your outfits! This is one of my favorite monthly recaps. I have too many favorites to choose from, but the simplicity and elegance of #9 is really speaking to me. I’m definitely going to draw inspiration from that one once the terrible, muggy heat breaks in the Midwest.

  3. I would to suggest a blog topic? One of my favorite elements of your blog is the thrifting posts, of course wondering what you brought home, but also loving that you also picture and explain the items you decided to leave behind. It’s thought provoking on the decision making process. When you do decide to do a purge or cull of your closet, would you consider a similar post? I think that you don’t have to recap the “obviously, keep” pile, but the “keep or pass?” pile, that’s where the drama is!

  4. Congratulations and good luck in the new work position! It must be exciting to make a big switch like that. And also best of health to your dear ones! Hopefully July will be better than June.
