What with one thing or another, July was a short work month. Obviously, a LOT has been going on in my personal life, even though it has not always been reflected here on the blog. With that said, I think you may start seeing some changes. My new office, with its more casual dress code, is inspiring me to switch things up a bit in my professional wardrobe. I’ve been drawn to a more minimalist, creative business casual aesthetic for a while, and this is my chance to really lean into it. You can kinda see the beginnings of that this month; more to come.

We only have 12 outfits in the mix here, but I can honestly say that I really enjoyed them all; quite a few are candidates for my personal Favourite Outfits Hall of Fame. Take #8, for example. I rarely repeat outfits from head to toe, but I have worn this one 3 times in as many months. I can definitely see myself repeating others as well, like #4, 6, 7 and 12. There’s only one “problem” I foresee here. If I become a habitual outfit repeater, I’m going to have to get real creative with the blog. So if you have topics you’d like to see me tackle as an alternative to OOTD posts, let me know.

For fun, here is a look at my July outfits in 2015 and 2016.

9 Comments on What I Wore: July 2017

  1. I’d love to learn how you purchase designer bags online and how to determine authenticity of the bag and the seller.
I also love learning about high end clothing labels and how to discern which are worth investing in on a consignment purchase or at places like Value Village.

  2. I’d love to hear any tips and tricks for little things that make a difference in how polished a look comes across (how you roll your blazer sleeves to look neat, how to safety pin a top so that the pin doesn’t show, etc).

  3. My favourite look is #4. It is cool to look back at past years! Imagine being able to do that in another 5-10yrs.

  4. I just discovered your blog and I love your style! I just had a baby and can’t really leave the house for hours, but your blog makes me so excited to go thrifting again!

  5. Still love #4 the most!

Apropos of nothing, have you seen this article/heard of this book? It’s all about changing patterns of consumption among the wealthy. I’m really curious to read the book. I recognize a lot of the behaviors but I’m not sure that I’ve settled what I think about it. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts, since it touches on themes you’ve talked about before.

  6. I love thrift haul and thrifting tips posts the best. Maybe a look at your top twenty thrifted items of all time? Or recreating a runway look with $50 at the thrift store.

  7. I wanted to chime and say that I actually like seeing repeat outfits and pieces–it’s more realistic to how most people dress, and it’s nice to see people’s ‘favorites.’ In addition to the topics already mentioned, I’m interested in the psychology behind certain dressing choices–how does something make you feel, what do you like about your style shift, what do you think is driving it, how do other people react, etc. I’m interested in it because I’ve felt my own style somewhat evolve and have also noticed how other people sometimes have reactions to/preferences regarding my style–and trying to balance that with what I like/developing the confidence to stick with what I like.
