Somehow, I frequently forget this skirt. I don’t know why, it’s such a good one. From the first glimpse, I was taken with the abstract, minimalist print and the interesting cut of the faux wrap panel. I eventually found it on the BR clearance rack, and now I kinda regret not getting the matching top. You know me and matching skirts & blouses.

Since I’m on that whole minimalist style (not closet! never a minimalist closet) kick lately, I just added a simple black sweater. Some tried and tested accessories — my fave tassel pendant and blue suede pumps — added a bit of flair and, voila. A not-so-casual Friday outfit.

Everyday Glam

Dress, LK Bennett (thrifted); shoes, Nine West (thrifted); bag, MbMJ (via eBay)
Dress, LK Bennett (thrifted); shoes, Stuart Weitzman (via consignment); bag, MbMJ (via eBay)

This dress is a little tricky. It feels rather fancy for everyday wear, but not quite full-on glam. In the end, I wore it to the office — mostly because it was too pretty to “save” for a special occasion. It proved to be a mistake, though not for aesthetic reasons. Turns out, these cap sleeves are very unforgiving; they are very fitted, which is fine if I keep my hands by my side, but as soon as I start moving … no bueno. It’s a problem, because approximately 90% of my day involves typing. So this dress will be a “special occasion” piece after all.

Here are some of the other things I wore.

The necklace is old (one of those amazeballs Winners finds of fantastic quality) and the cardigan is the one I love and some of you hate. I promise I’m not wearing it all the time just to annoy you. It just goes with everything, you know?

Professor Chic, Summer Edition

Elbow patches are back! Back in my wardrobe rotation that is. I felt quite professorial at any rate, even though this outfit is pretty relaxed. I enjoyed how everything came together, and the muted colour palette.

vintage cameo

I picked up this vintage(y?) cameo at The Junque Cellar because the setting struck me as unusual (it reminded me of some delicate material, like frayed lace) and the profile was nice. Hey, there are a lot of rather homely cameos out there, ok? It was just a small touch of frilliness in an otherwise low-key outfit.
