BCRL readers have spoken! Many of you wrote to say that a buy/trade post sounded like a fun idea, so I’m launching this as a pilot program of sorts for a possible regular monthly feature. If there is enough interest (and positive feedback), I would be happy to host one going forward. So please don’t be shy – I want to hear from you, love it or hate it.

A couple of disclaimers and ground rules.

One, while I believe in the BCRL community, I do not know each of you personally, so I cannot vouch for any person or item. Please use your best discretion, both when buying and trading. While I think this idea has great potential, its success is premised on trust and the honour system – please be fair and respectful of others. If anyone becomes aware of concerns over another poster/reader’s actions, please let me know. I do not have time to police people, but I also don’t want anyone to be using my site to rip others off, so should something of that nature happen, I will shut down these posts immediately.

Also, if anyone has ideas about ways to make this a safer environment, please leave a comment.

Two, I would ask that people at least consider international shipping, provided the other party is willing to assume the costs. I say this as a Canadian who often feels shut out of trading sites where the members are predominantly from the US. Of course, I can’t and wouldn’t force anyone to do something they feel comfortable with, but I know there are BCRL readers all over North America (and the world), and I think it would be nice if everyone had the option to participate.

Three, please feel free to include links to specific items you are selling/seeking as long as they are not affiliate ones.

Four, please be clear about the specifics of what you are looking for and/or are offering, including payment, shipping, etc. Alternately, you can include an email address for inquiries, but please note that this would be visible to the public/anyone visiting the blog.

Ok, with all that out of the way, how about I get things started?

I have been looking for this Vanessa Virginia “Prateria” blouse for what feels like eons, with little success. It rarely pops up on eBay, and always for $$$. If anyone has it and is willing to part with it (to a Canadian), please leave a comment. I would be up for a trade or sale, depending on the asking price.

  1. Adina – this is exciting and I’d love to participate. Just so I understand the logistics of it – everything will happen via comments right? Descriptions of items, links to products etc.

    I have two items available. One is the Ellie Knitted Dress from Boden in dark burgundy (you can see a picture here http://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/clearance/womens-dresses/day-dresses/ww126-dpr/womens-dark-burgundy-ellie-knitted-dress and I can send additional ones to those interested). It is a mix of cotton and viscose with a bit of stretch, size 6 Petite and the actual garment measurements are (in inches):
    Front length 34½
    Chest circumference 33 (my chest size is ~37 1/2 but this works for me because of the stretch)
    Front neck drop 4¼
    Waist circumference 26¾
    Hip circumference 42½
    Hem circumference 59¾
    I bought it for $140 and wore it less than I would have liked, it just didn’t work out with other pieces in my closet. So it’s almost brand new and asking for $70. I will cover the shipping in the US and ask for a reasonable surcharge depending on where internationally.

    The other item is a Chevron Halter Maxi Dress from Loft that I bought on final sale (description and photos at https://www.loft.com/petite-chevron-halter-maxi-dress/435140?skuId=23021518&defaultColor=5913&colorExplode=false&catid=catl000036&_requestid=2268116). It is a size XS Petite and cost $16. Sadly it didn’t fit, the chest area and straps were a bit too tight and this doesn’t work on this woman who weight trains, but it would work on a thinner figure. I can measure the circumference of the top part around the chest if you want. I only ask for $5 and the cost of shipping.

      The comments are open for this but it’s up to you how much info you want to leave here versus via email. I think, practically, the more info you provide in the comments the easier it is for people to know if they’re interested. With that said, I think it’s best if interested parties were to discuss buying/shipping via email. As such, I am happy to act as go between and send the buyer’s email to the seller if the buyer doesn’t want to post their email publicly. Just write “Interested” and I will do the rest – just give me 1-2 days.

  3. A suggestion – maybe have “trading” open only for the first week each month or for the week after a trading post goes up? That way you’re not having to be hands-on all month.

  12. I have a Madewell Transport zip tote I would sell – only caveat is that it has my initials CMM on it in gold, but in my opinion they don’t stand out too much at all. I can send photos to anyone interested – I paid $130, I’d ask $50, shipping included in the US, plus a reasonable surcharge for international. It’s the army green leather color.
