This outfit felt familiar … and, sure enough, there was a reason for it. I wore the same colour combo almost exactly a year ago. At least I switched up the shoes this time.

I loved wearing this outfit, and a big part of the reason was this skirt. Double serge wool skirts from J. Crew are my jam. I love the punchy colours, and the material is perfect for our cooler seasons. I found this skirt for under $30 at consignment and while it’s a size bigger than my usual, I like the slightly looser fit. I think I am actually in between sizes at J. Crew at the moment; while size 4 fits my waist best, I tend to get some wrinkling across the hips, especially when I sit down. I haven’t noticed the same problem with this size 6; it does sit lower on my torso, which means it hits me a little lower at the knee than I’d like, but it’s a small price to pay to avoid expensive alterations.

Some Fridays, I don’t feel like jeans. Some Fridays, I don’t have the first clue what I feel like wearing … so I end up winging it … and copycatting myself in the process. I mean, for reals. Slightly different necklace:

… but not by much. May 2014 was a long time ago, so I figured that you guys might not remember … oops. Let’s look at the positive, shall we: here’s an outfit that still works, 1.5 years later.

I hate my make-up here, by the way. I never line my bottom eyelids, but I decided to play around with a slightly smokier eye, and used some dark brown eyeshadow (in place of my usual black pencil) instead … and got a little too adventurous with it. Too bad I hated the end result; I feel like the extra bit of liner just made me look older somehow.

I didn’t realize the background colour on these pants was navy, not black, until the 3rd or 4th time I wore them. D’oh. Now that I know, I finally paired them with the appropriate colours – burgundy and more navy (natch). Nothing fancy here, but I liked how this all came together – and my IG peeps seemed to like it too – so here we are. I’m wearing head to ankle J. Crew, with my new thrifted Stuart Weitzman pumps completing the picture. These puppies run narrow – yikes. I’m hoping they will stretch out with time.
