If you follow me on Instagram (you do, don’t you?), you’re probably heartily sick of this cropped sweatshirt. I seem to be wearing it all the bloody time … because I do. It’s a combination of having paid full retail price for it (albeit via gift card), and not being entirely sure I should have bought it at all. Classic wardrobe staple it is not, so I guess it’s just as well that I’m getting my money’s worth out of it now, before cropped sweatshirts go the way of the harem pants.
This Old Navy buffalo plaid shirt is probably my favourite match for the sweatshirt. I’ve struggled to figure out how to best layer it, and I feel like this is my best attempt yet. Minus the cropped pants/ankle boots thing, which I’m not sure I’m feeling. Whatever, I’m 80% there – just ignore everything from the ankles down. And while you’re at it, please ignore everything from the neck up too. If I look particularly bleary-eyed, it’s because this was the morning after my office Xmas party, and my daughter decided to get a different kind of party started at 5:30am. The fun never ends around here.
I like the buffalo plaid with it. That seems to be a popular print right now – while I have a red & white buffalo plaid shirt (also from Old Navy!) I’m highly tempted to get another shirt in the more classic red & black print….Although I should see if my current red & white shirt works with my fancy sweatshirt! It is grey with a jacquard weave pattern on the front.
Try it! Buffalo plaid is a strong, simple print (especially in a dark colour/white combo) so it goes well with busier prints, especially florals. My 2 cents anyway 😉
I wouldn’t have thought to pair the sweatshirt with a buffalo plaid shirt, but it’s perfect!
