My husband usually doesn’t have much to say about my outfits, but he wasn’t sure about this shoe-skirt combo. In his own words: “I see what you’re trying to do there, but it might be a bit much.” Hah! It Might Be A Bit a Much is my style motto, after all. So, although I did try more sedate footwear as a back-up, you know which way I went in the end, right?
Right: teal all the way. And I threw on my new Alexis Bittar necklace, which is one of my current favourite pieces. It’s hard to photograph, but it’s really cool — asymmetric & kinda unusual. I found it in the clearance section at Holt’s, which has been a veritable goldmine (pun intended) this year. This necklace was only $60, down from around $250. It makes me feel very fancy, indeed.
Is this the one you put on Insta and we all said TEAL? There is teal-ish in your top so the shoes are fine by me π
Yes, that’s the one. There is teal in the top (which is how my husband figured out my strategy) but with the blazer closed, it’s hard to see. I still think that the teal is a nice contrast to the purple — that’s why they made that print in the first place, right?
Men. They match perfectly.
There’s teal in your top as Lou said, and your skirt goes with the top. I would have done the same.
Thanks! The teal shoes have a higher heel, so they were a no-brainer anyway π
You made the right choice on the teal, without a doubt!
Thanks, Robyn!
Love the outfit. Don’t listen to your husband on this one, the combination is spot on!! Cheers, Michele
Haha! I rarely do when it comes to clothes π
It made more sense when I noticed the teal in the top. ’tis all good!
Hahaha! You and G are totally on the same (style) wavelength π
Such a great look. I really appreciate how you used basics to tie together really fun pieces.
Thanks, Kimberly!
Weird question, but do you wear stockings and if so what brand/shade? I find myself not reaching for my rainbow colored j crew pencil skirts until it’s nearly spring bc they look weird with black tights and it seems weird to go bare in February. As a fellow pale person, however, I find that “nude” stockings look a bit weird on me as well. I work in a law office with a similar dress code to yours, fwiw.
Hey, not a weird question. I definitely wear nylons in the winter (actually most of the year), and my fave brand is Calvin Klein in shade/colour 2 (not the paler #1, which is too pasty white on me). The colour is very, very close to my skin tone (and they’re not shiny), so it doesn’t look like I’m wearing nylons at all. However, they’re not super sheer/thin, so they’re quite sturdy. I find mine at Winners (TJ Maxx) for about $7 CDN/pair. Whenever I can’t find them, my other go-tos are DKNY or La Perla nylons, also from Winners. They’re pricier, and honestly, not nearly as good. The La Perla ones, in particular, bag like crazy after a couple of wears. But both DKNY and La Perla have colours that look natural on me (not too pasty, not too orange).
Hope that helps!
