… get to know each other, fall in love, and eventually have a baby — to wit, this outfit. The end. I hope you were not expecting a joke because I am a terrible comedian. Also, apparently, a terrible romance writer. (Which probably explains why my current writing project has stalled like whoa. But that’s a whole ‘nother blog post.) Anywhoodle, I threw these things together at the last minute and liked the colour combo a lot, so I wore it to work and everything. It’s a bit wild, but still doable … I think?
I’m starting to re-think the silhouette of these pants, which isn’t doing my short legs any favours, but they are so, so comfortable that I can’t quite bear to part with them. I guess I’m a sucker for a nice, silky pant lining. Why are they more rare than unicorns? Sigh. I guess the palazzo pants stay.
I for one love those pants, although I do have a weakness for wide leg pants. As far as I’m concerned, you are pulling them off.
Thank you! I have a “short girl” syndrome (to be fair, I DO have rather short legs) so I’m always leery of clothes that might make me look stumpy. I’m suspicious of these pants, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt if you guys say so 😉
I think those pants look great on you! Full disclaimer – I have the same pants, bought on sale at Anthropologie a few years ago for $20 or so. I don’t wear them as often as I should, because they are very thick and wooly, but you’re inspiring me to wear them more! I think you should definitely keep them.
Twinsssss! I can see them being weather-inappropriate for a good chunk of the year for many people, but up here they’re practically year-around pants, LOL! (Full disclosure: I am always cold, so bear that in mind.)
Cute pants. I love wide leg pants, although I saw a photo of myself in a pair of lower waisted wide leg pants. Boy, did those pants make me look like I have stubby legs. Mind you, I am a shorty at 5’1″. You look much taller than that.
I think your pants may look nice with a white tie neck blouse or one of your higher collared J Crew shirts, paired with a belt that sits higher on the waist. I don’t know if your pants have belt loops. I thought maybe a wider belt that covers the waist so that it looks more like a pair of high waisted pants might lengthen the leg line? But I trust you more in the style department than me 😉
On a different note, I thought of your thrifting adventures when I dropped off a bag of clothes at Savers yesterday and then found a beautiful YSL black cotton blouse still with tags on. It’s got just enough detailing to make it more interesting than your standard black button up. I’m not too familiar with YSL, but I’m guessing it’s an older top. It’s under the Rive Gauche line. I promptly used my 30% off card on that.
Whoohoo! Fab score! I’ve never found any YSL pieces in thrift stores, except for a tie for my husband. It’s definitely on my would-love-to-thrift list of brands!
These pants absolutely do not make you or your legs look short. Having said that, I’m not a fan. I actually like wide legged pants, but prefer them a little more high waisted, with pleats perhaps, and more fluid than these ones. Sorry, they look so stiff! But I guess that’s just the nature of the thicker fabric. You are pulling them off though.
Thanks! These pants are definitely a love-it-or-hate-it kind of item, so I’m not surprised that they’re not universally beloved.
