I loved this blazer+blouse combo last time I wore it — with a psychedelic print pencil skirt — so I decided to try with a more demure outfit. Well, as demure as things get when leopard print is involved. I feel like that was a necessary touch of “extra”, otherwise the outfit might have come a little too close to “staid” for comfort. We can’t have that. Minimalism is all fine and good, but we have to have a little fun, no?
I suppose pink might be considered “fun” as well, especially in a business environment. I always think twice before wearing a lot of pink to work, because it does tend to stand out and I’m wary of Legally Blonde associations. I’ve come to realize that I am going to stand out at my office no matter what — even my new neutral-loving, print-eschewing aesthetic is far brighter than most of my colleagues’ — so I might as well just embrace it. And hey, people won’t forget me in a hurry, which is a bonus when you’re the newbie at a large organization. Right? Right.
I love this look for work — it’s the perfect mix of business-like and edgy. And I really love how you’ve been styling your hair lately! It makes me wish I could pull off a shorter cut (I can’t)! =)
I am totally trying to grow out my hair, haha!
Love the blazer! Coincidentally, I also wore a bunch of pink to work today – very pale pink blazer and pink suede block heels (with ribbons – very ballerina-esque) over a moody burgundy and pink floral print. I used to worry about wearing a bunch of pink but now I just put it on. This pale shade of pink is a good shade for my skin tone and I like it. I’m dressed professionally for my workplace and I’m comfortable. I don’t generally wear head-to-toe pink – that might be a bit much, even for me! But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wearing pink or any strong colours at work.
Let’s reclaim pink together!!
Fantastic color on you and love it in this ensemble, which has that wonderful menswear inspiration. And adding the neutral accessories! I wouldn’t have thought of that, and I really like it! It softens the look and warms up the pink too.
Thanks 🙂
How’s the sizing on the Cartonnier blazers? After seeing this one on you a couple times now, I’m stalking my own on eBay now…
They fit small IME. I once tried on a size Medium and it was tight in the shoulders and arms. I’m typically a size 4 for women’s clothing, but have broad shoulders.
I find them true to size, but I don’t have super broad shoulders or anything.
Thank you both!
