Culotte Chic

2018 was the year of culottes. I wore them all summer, and I’m determined to wear them all fall/winter too. It helps that they work so well with ankle boots … of which, I have no shortage. Take these mock croc Stuart Weitzman beauties – they hit at just the right height to tuck under the hem of my linen Lida Baday culottes. (FYI, I’ve started wearing nylons under my culottes to add an extra layer of protection against the colder temps. After a nylon-free summer, this is not ideal, but you do what you have to do.)

I’m currently also loving the black-brown combo. I was never a huge fan of brown, but this is really working for me – it feels unexpected but still looks polished.

All Wrapped Up

This is a pretty standard transitioning-a-summer-dress outfit; throw a cozy knit on top, call it a day. This Club Monaco wrap style cardigan is cozy AF. It’s a cashmere blend and it’s huge! I like to wear it as pictured – as a cross between a topper and a giant scarf – but I’m sure there are other ways to tie it/wrap it/etc. Visually, the black helps to ground the bright green of the dress, which is otherwise not a typical Adina colour. Paired with lots of black, the green becomes more of an accent than a statement colour, which is more my speed.

Return of The Moss Witch

I know, I know. “Witch” aesthetic is the hot thing if you frequent sites like Reddit FFA; call me a bandwagon jumper if you must, it’s alright with me. The truth is that I love outfits like this one, and if the witchy label fits … well, I guess I’m not gonna bother to disclaim it. This outfit came about because I wanted to give this recently thrifted Maje jacket a wear before the weather turned to “frigid” permanently; it’s a unique coat but not an especially easy piece to style. All the inspo pics I could find of it online involved light and airy summer looks, so I had to improvise and went to my comfort zone – sack dresses and chunky knits. The result is probably a love it or hate it proposition, but I definitely fall into the first camp so … calling it a win!

Come back on Friday to read all about my epic thrift haul that included this jacket and a few other one of a kind scores.

4 Comments on What I Wore: October 8-14, 2018

  1. When I saw the swing jacket initially (I think it was on your stories?) I was curious how you would style it and you totally knocked it out of the park with the third outfit. I feel like the jacket could have looked a bit dated, but it looks so cool and fresh! LOVE it on you!

  2. Witchy seems to lend itself better to fall anyway, in my mind. You nailed it! I’m looking forward to more looks from this esthetic.
