What I Wore: November Work Wardrobe

November was such a whirlwind, wasn’t it? It just disappeared somehow, and I found myself staring Christmas in the face, without so much as a gift list in hand. Ah, but that’s a tale of woe for another day. November was busy, busy, busy. I am getting ever closer to finishing the edits on my book (I hope! *sobs*) and work is ramping up something fierce (January is not looking very pretty right now! *sobs*), but I managed to maintain a semblance of sanity – somehow. It helped to have a few days away from the madness. Thank god for work conference, amirite?

On to the outfits!

This was a surprisingly decent month. I don’t know why I am surprised by that, but I am. The transition to winter usually makes me depressed vis-a-vis getting dressed, but I worked through it this year – mostly by stubbornly ignoring the weather outside. Thank god for short commutes, amirite?

My fave outfits this month were #4, 6, 8, and 10. I’m sensing a pattern here … hmm. Anyway, least favourite outfit was #3, and I didn’t, like, capital H-hate it.

I’m excited for December for all the usual reasons, including the chance to dress up. Christmas parties, heck yeah! I am NOT looking forward to work (which is going to kick my butt and then some) but I’m hoping I’ll have an extra reason to celebrate this year … and, yeah, I’m going to leave you hanging … although you can probably figure out where I’m going with this cliffhanger.

How were your sartorial efforts this month?

What I Wore: October Work Wardrobe Capsule

October … had good weather. There, I said something nice. Of course, “good weather” is a relative concept, but we finished the month snow-free, which counts as positively tropical for this time of year around these parts. I’ve been hearing reports of snow around other parts of the province this week, so now I’m quaking in my boots. The “fall back” to Standard Time isn’t helping – I feel like I’m living in darkness permanently. Sad face.

Oh, poo. I was supposed to keep this nice and positive. Oh well. Let’s look at the clothes, shall we?

I didn’t HATE and I didn’t LOVE any of my outfits this month. To be honest, I felt pretty blah throughout, and I don’t know why. It probably has nothing to do with the clothes, and a lot to do with things going on in my life. I keep waiting to finish the hard slog through my book edits, and telling myself that I’ll get back to having fun (occasionally! let’s not get crazy here) after it’s all done but … who knows. Probably won’t happen. As stressed out and frequently miserable as writing makes me, it’s also kinda become a habit after nearly 7 months. Sigh. This is not good, you guys. I think I need an intervention 😉

Tell me all about your October and how you’re planning to keep the “winter is coming” blues at bay.

Work Wardrobe Capsule: September 2015

September was one of those months that seems to take forever right up until the very end when you go, “wait, it’s over already?” It was busy and stressful, and what’s new. Sigh. One of these recaps, I’ll have something really exciting to share, I swear. Or, at least, I hope. In the meantime, I have some outfits to show you.

Seeing as how September was, in all seriousness, a fairly long month (work outfit-wise), there were some early gems that I had almost forgotten. Before I looked at the collages above, I was feeling kind of “meh” about my sartorial efforts this month, which was a shame – September will forever be “back to school” month for me, when I usually get a renewed verve for wardrobe remixing. Judging by #1, 5, 16 and 21, maybe I haven’t lost my mojo after all. Let’s just agree to ignore #6 and 10, mkay?

My favourite pieces this month were the Simons floral shirt, and my thrifted MaxMara skirt. The latter, in particular, is such a good work(wear)horse. I think it will continue to serve me well in the coming months, and into next season (which shall remain nameless). But, first: October!

Tell me, what are you looking forward to this month?
