I seem to have a fatal attraction for colourful muumuus, which should be all you need to know to understand why I had to buy this Etro tunic. It was only $50. I had to. It looks like the sort of thing a Real Housewife would wear to the beach on St. Barths – or wherever nouveau riche ladies with aspirations of Bravo TV fame vacation – so I have no idea where I might wear it. I mean, does “summer weekend in Edmonton” count? For what it’s worth, I wore it to go on a bookstore-and-sushi date with my husband.

It was pretty awesome. I refrained from buying dubious literature (as an incentive to continue writing my own dubious literature – I need all the encouragement I can get) in favour of something that might actually, well, help me write better. Maybe. We’ll find out next year. In the meantime, here’s another photo of my fawncy Italian silk muumuu.

  1. hi Adina, that outfit is all kinds of perfection, those colours! Btw, I need to thank you for the Rimmel Color Rush recommendations, the current ones I have are worn so often. Nicolle

  2. That tunic is so beautiful! I love the mix of prints especially. I was just in St. Barths for spring break so your reference made me lol. I always bring my fanciest muu muus and Mrs. Roper dresses and this Etro number would fit right into the mix! I actually bought something somewhat similar while I was there!

I have noticed over the years of visits some changes in who goes to St. Barths as the island has gained more visibility from pop culture (Real Housewives, pop music references, celebrity tabloid fodder, etc.). For example, this trip more so than ever before I saw many cruise ships shuttling in visitors for the day.

    • I’ve never been, but it looked lovely in your IG photos. (Does that sound creepy? LOL!)

I always end up making up back stories for the clothes I buy – or want to talk myself into buying – it’s a bad habit. Also the reason why I have a hard time letting go of things. “But this is what I would wear if I went to St. Barths … I can’t get rid of it!!” (Said whilst having absolutely no plans to go anywhere remotely tropical).
