Another weekend casual look, made up of pieces you’re probably terminally sick of seeing on the olde blog. Mostly, this is an excuse to show you my first attempt at a Gibson roll (tuck?) …

… which, in all honesty, I probably should have kept to myself. It looked ok from the front, but the back was a wee bit tragic. (I think you can see a rogue bobby pin in there if you were to zoom in. Please don’t.) But I like the idea of it, so I’m going to keep trying. If anyone has tips for mastering this ‘do, hit me up in the comments.

  1. I love this outfit! The hairstyle is cute too. (I’m basically the most clueless person in the world when it comes to hairstyling, alas, and my repertoire of skills is basically limited to letting my hair air dry and wearing it down or putting it up into an inevitably sloppy ponytail.)

    • Thanks! Though, to be clear, you and I are going to have a contest about the title of “most clueless” about hair. Seriously! If it were not for tutorials online (which I replicate poorly), my hair would look the same every single day (flat, frizzy, and blah, for the record).

    • If I can do it, anyone can do it!! If you Google “Gibson tuck” images, there are lots of tutorials (photos and videos) and most of them are WAY better than anything I could come up with. Do give it a try and let me know what you think!

    • Thanks! I really like it too – it’s classic without being too old-fashioned (even though I know it’s been around since, well, the Gibson Girl days). I just wish I was better at executing it 🙁

      • What helps me is to have my hair 80% dry (so still a little damp) when I do the tuck – otherwise my hair feels too slippery, if that makes sense? And the long “roller pins” are a lot stronger than shorter bobby pins, in the U.S. I have bought them at both Walmart and Sally’s Beauty
