The “neutral column + pop of colour” formula returns with a vengeance, eh? This time, I chose navy, instead of black, to pair with my bright mustard yellow jacket — largely because I’m pretty sure I’ve already done black before. As you might surmise, I really enjoy this type of outfit. I’ve never been a huge fan of trousers/pants, but I’ve been finding myself wearing them more and more. I think it’s because of outfit formulas like this one; tried and tested, comfortable, and easy to constantly remix. It puts my extensive blazer collection to good use, in any case.

I’m always looking for opportunities to wear my funky Ferragamo block heels, so I pull them out for consideration every time I wear anything navy. As I was pondering whether they “went” with this outfit, and simultaneously thinking about what accessory to add, I had a stroke of inspiration. My MaxMara chunky necklace! It has a very similar mod-ish vibe as the shoes — frankly, I can’t believe I didn’t realize it before. They’re a match made in heaven! This won’t be the last time you see this combo … or let’s face it, some very similar version of this entire outfit. Here’s hoping your memories are short, or your fondness for repetition great 😉

  1. I have a quick question about the mustard Tabitha jacket that you are wearing here. I spotted a turquoise version of this jacket for sale on a consignment site and am interested in it because I always love your mustard version whenever you wear it. However, the turquoise one is size 8 and I am generally more a size 6 in blazers. So, my question for you is how is the sizing on yours? I’ve never owned anything by Tabitha, so I’m wondering if they tend to run small and the 8 might work for me, or if yours runs tts or runs large and I should pass. Thank you!

    • Funny thing. So, I have a blue-grey version as well which I bought in store when it first came out (because the mustard had sold out by the time it hit the sales rack). I need to double-check the sizes when I get home, but I am 99% sure that the grey is a size 4 (my usual size in most mall type brands) and the mustard is a size 8, which is all I was able to find on eBay. The mustard fits looser through the body, but it’s not significantly bigger/looser in the shoulders. I actually prefer the 8 because it’s a little less restrictive. Because of the style — I always wear it open not closed — the extra room on the sides doesn’t bother me. The jacket tends to drape nicely regardless.

Which is all to say … if I am correct about the sizes I have … I think the jacket fits small. So, my ideal size would probably be the 6, but both the 4 and 8 fit ok. If you’re typically a size 6, I think you should be ok with the size 8. But let me double-check my sizes at home first.

P.S. Are you sure it’s the same jacket? I have never seen it in a turquoise colourway. I know there is another Tabitha jacket that looks similar, but is not the same. As I don’t have that other one, I’d be hesitant to make recc’s about sizing. I think the style name of my jacket included the word “Terrace” (sorry, I can’t remember the rest).

  2. That shoe necklace combo is fab, I like how they aren’t matchy matchy but each bring out something in the other, and I love those brainwaves when you realise that two different things you love go together and you never realised! Love watching your style and enjoying the changes! Great work X
