… get to know each other, fall in love, and eventually have a baby — to wit, this outfit. The end. I hope you were not expecting a joke because I am a terrible comedian. Also, apparently, a terrible romance writer. (Which probably explains why my current writing project has stalled like whoa. But that’s a whole ‘nother blog post.) Anywhoodle, I threw these things together at the last minute and liked the colour combo a lot, so I wore it to work and everything. It’s a bit wild, but still doable … I think?

I’m starting to re-think the silhouette of these pants, which isn’t doing my short legs any favours, but they are so, so comfortable that I can’t quite bear to part with them. I guess I’m a sucker for a nice, silky pant lining. Why are they more rare than unicorns? Sigh. I guess the palazzo pants stay.

So, in addition to the Smythe blazer you’ve already seen, I bought one other thing with the last of my Xmas gift money …

“toddler art project” or “luxe statement”?

There was something about this MaxMara necklace which immediately drew me to it, although I’m honestly not sure if this will turn into one of those pieces I will wear (and treasure) forever, or a regretted impulse buy. It could go either way. For now, I love it … so, of course, I couldn’t wait to wear it. I thought it might add a little something to this Boden dress, which is very nice but kinda hard to accessorize. I don’t know if the leaf-on-leaf action is rather overdoing it, but I figured I might as well go big or go home. Boom, there you have it.

Treat Yo’self

Last week turned into a perfect storm of splurging. The Mulberry bag I bought on eBay finally arrived (from England), the day after I spent the last of my Xmas gift card on this new Smythe blazer at Blu’s. It all felt very … decadent. The Smythe was an impulse buy, but I’m a sucker for elbow patches (and these are real leather, as are the buttons), and the fit is fantastic. This blazer was made in Canada, so I feel good about that. Assuming the quality is as good as its reputation promises, I should be wearing this piece for many years.

The Mulberry is the Audrina style, which I have been hunting for ages. I fell in love with it because of the hardware on the pocket closure, which is an unusual pin-lock style. Yeah, I’m weird about bag hardware. Anyway, it just so happened that I finally found the Audrina on eBay (it’s an older style and seems pretty rare) in this beautiful cerise colour … which I had been coveting separately. (Everyone needs a pink bag in their closet, right?) The size is bang-on for my personal preference, and the bag as a whole is very practical. Consider this a mini review, with raves all around.

Of course, the day I wore this outfit, the rain came down with a vengeance, hence these crappy office photos. But trust that this outfit was hella cute, and won me a bunch of compliments. Treating myself, indeed.
