I have a *lot* of dresses, which I periodically feel guilty about, but I have decided to embrace my “collector” personality and, rather than pare down, make an effort to cycle through all my pieces more regularly. I love this Ted Baker silk A-line dress, and paired with cream and black, it looked great for a night out with girlfriends. And, oh hey — look, I finally got a decent picture of my newish Alexis Bittar necklace (excuse the cleavage shot).

This year, I joined a group of friends and got a season pass to the Alberta ballet. Once a month, we get together, have a nice dinner out then enjoy a show. I haven’t had a lot of time for socializing outside of work in the last 5 years, so this has been a nice change.

The Dynamic Directions show was very interesting; there were parts I loved, and parts I didn’t understand at all, but the talent on display was phenomenal. I’m looking forward to next month’s ballet, Romeo & Juliet. I haven’t seen a “traditional” ballet since I was a kid.

Yep: another Friday, another blazer. In my defence, I did try to mix up the vibe to be less girly/frilly than last week’s. The colour palette is a bit sedate, so I added bright red flats to liven things up. This pair is reaching the end of its run, I’m afraid, but I can’t bear to part with it. The suede is unbelievably soft, and makes these shoes super comfortable, and I dread the prospect of trying to find a suitable replacement. I’m one of the people who *hates* shopping from a list, because I can never find the specific thing I need — just everything else under the sun. It’s a curse! Anyone else feeling my pain?

… go for the “feels like a million bucks” dress. Seriously, every time I have a networking/client/public speaking event coming up, I pull out this dress. It looks elegant without being either too memorable or too blah. A (black) blazer is a necessity in most cases, which takes away some of the wow factor of the dress, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do the requisite twirl for this here blog.
