Beige Love

One of my close friends has a huge hate-on for beige – HUGE, I tell you – so I like to troll her regularly by wearing all the beige things. Case in point: this outfit. It doesn’t get more beige than, well, three different shades of it.

I always love a good monochrome-ish outfit, so I liked this one. Incorporating different textures is the way to go as far as keeping things somewhat (visually) interesting. And, yes, that includes beige.

Not much else I can say about this outfit, save that it was ridiculously cheap. Check it:

Dress – $12 (thrifted)
Camisole – free (swap)
Shoes – $15 (consignment)
Necklace – $11 (clearance)

That’s a $40 outfit, people! With enough money left over for some Timbits. Mmm, Timbits. Hey, those are beige too, right? Yes!

Thursday Casual

Oh, potato sacks – how I love thee. Let me count the ways. Seriously, you guys know my deep and abiding love for shapeless shift dresses, and this Joe Fresh dress I bought last fall is near the top of my list. I might seem like a terrible choice for work, but paired with a blazer, it’s perfect for casual Thursday. What’s that you say? Casual Thursday is not a thing? Boo.

So, yes, it really does look nightgown-y in the extreme from the back, which is why I always wear a structured topper with it. At the same time, though, the loose silhouette almost reminds me of a sort of jolie laide, minimalist aesthetic. Again, very much a casual look outside of a creative office, but still doable. Or so I like to think. It’s perfectly comfy for long days in front of the computer, so I’m loath to give it up. So casual Thursday it is!

Ghosts of Outfits Past

This was my work uniform for most of my career. Until the past year, I worked in a very much behind-the-scenes capacity in my field, which meant little to no client interaction – hence, my casual take on business wear. I’ve been wearing blazers far more frequently than cardigans in recent months, but I still occasionally feel a twinge of nostalgia for the old standby. And what do you know? It still works. It’s a cute outfit, even if it does feel a little “2009-2012 Adina”. Long time blog readers will probably know exactly what I mean.

There’s not much else I have to say about it. You guys know I love me a nice floral, and J. Crew can usually be counted to bring out a good one every other year. This one is a few seasons old (found at consignment) and it’s definitely a keeper for me. I love the dark & moody palette, and it plays nicely with my wardrobe colours – including this jade green. Throw on some black pants, and I’m good to go. To work 🙂
