Break free, my friends! This winter, do not submit to the tyranny of pants, weather be damned!

[Or, you know, submit and all, if you like pants. Or have to wait for the bus. I’d feel really terrible if you ended up with pneumonia or something.]

Where was I? Oh, yes. I was telling you about how much I hate pants.

look, ma – no pants!

I’ve never been a fan of pants (as long-time BCRL readers well know), but the extra 20 pounds I haven’t managed to budge since my daughter was born have made me really dislike pants. And, conversely, really love dresses. So easy. So comfortable. Who needs pants?

layers and layers and layers …

Now, if you want to get technical, you could say that I’m actually wearing pants here. I mean, some people consider leggings to be pants. I don’t, but some days I feel like I’m in the minority with that. What’s the consensus?

but, hey, no pants!

  1. No, leggings are definitely no pants. I like to wear them with long sweaters or short dresses (are they the same thing?).
I like to wear skirts and dress in winter because I find them more practical when it rains. I mean, boots and tights dry fast, wet pants will stay wet for the whole day…

    • I like the way you’re thinking! I’m totally using your rationale next time someone questions the wisdom of my winter fashion choices.

  2. I do like skirts and dresses, but when it’s -40 (Celsius) with windchill making it even colder, I’m going to wear pants to work. And my giant down jacket with about 30 other layers.

Fortunately, it is only that cold here once in a while, so I try to pick the warmest day in a week and pull out my tights and skirts/dresses!

  3. I chickened out the first week it was cold last month and wore pants to the office all week….and my co-workers asked me if I was okay. Back to fleece-lined tights and dresses this week! I love being able to wear dresses to work year round, thanks to fleece-lined tights.

  4. I giggled all through this because to me pants = knickers! Lol.

Anyway a couple of years ago I didn’t even own any trousers but now I have loads. I do miss my dresses though.

Love this with those boots, great snow outfit!

    • You know it’s a sign I’ve been living in Canada for a looong time (almost 20 years!) when I’m completely de-sensitized to the “pants/trousers” thing. But, now that you mention it, the post title is all sorts of funny 😉
