I am obsessed with the casual chic of “undone” hair – think Charlotte Gainsborough – but tragic things happen when I try to emulate it. Tragic like this French braid, which started falling apart about about 5 minutes after I finished doing it. Eventually, I just gave up on it. It was that kind of a day. A 3-Coke kind of day. The WORST, basically.

The rest of the outfit is super cute, so you will forgive me for showing it to you again. I went back through my monthly capsules and, sure enough, it’s 90% similar to something I’ve worn before. (The jacket and bag are different this time, for the record.) But a cute outfit is a cute outfit, and I think we have all given up on me being an actual fashion blogger, yes?

  1. You look so cute! I can’t handle the undone hair thing without an entire can of hairspray, and that seems like the exact opposite of the point of undone hair…

    • Hahaha! I know, right?

I’m going to sound like a total creeper, but there is a girl I see from time to time on the train/subway and she does the casual chic braid impeccably. Actually, I love her entire style – very effortless, minimalist chic. She almost always wears the same black pants and oxfords, with a basic top … and it looks SO GOOD. She is seriously one of my new style icons. I desperately want to ask her how she get her French braid so perfectly imperfect.

  2. a) you are so a real fashun blogger because you blog for the real-life fashunistas b) your undone hair is beautiful (I may have to grow mine out again) and c) a different jacket counts. Sometimes I think the key is really having a lot of different options that are similar (eg: 1 cardigan and several tops that would go under with the same pair of pants) than several distinct outfits.

    • Aww, thanks Laura <3

That's definitely the practical and realistic way to create a cohesive wardrobe - I just sometimes worry that it's not what people want to see on a "style blog"
