The title is a book nerd sort of joke, in case you were wondering. (And no, I’ve never gotten around to reading Stendhal, much as I’ve never managed to finish Remembrance of Things Past – I’m more of a Balzac/Zola girl.) But, yes, I’m wearing red and black and white – again – because I’m nothing if not predictable.

This is one of those really basic/simple/plain outfits that’s not that special when you break it down on paper, but looks perfectly nice in real life. Know what I mean? I feel like I’m really starting to get the hang of these – which is a bit of a back-handed compliment to myself, I guess. On one hand, bo-ring! On the other hand, a cute outfit is a cute outfit. I’ll take it!

  1. Love this dress! The pattern is fun but the colours make it suitable for work. I love these sorts of easy, polished looks that are easy to put together and look so smart on. Anything that makes it easier to get dressed in the morning is a win in my book!

      • Sigh – I hear you on the poly, but it seems like everything is poly or some sort of poly blend lately. When it’s been really hot here lately I end up wearing my cotton Tshirts to work with a nice cardi and some heels just so I look pulled together because the poly is so not breathable!

        • Yeah, that’s what drives me bonkers – it doesn’t move or breathe at all. I’m really torn about this dress, because I love it in principle, but the reality leaves something to be desired.
