I thrifted this Meadow Rue dress … thingie right before my vacation to Vancouver, so I had to bring it with me, of course. Wait to wear a new frock? Pshaw! Besides, it’s perfect for kid-wrangling. The linen blend fabric is pretty much indestructible (it survived a close encounter with peanut butter – long and not terribly entertaining story) and those ginormous pockets are perfect for carrying all sorts of vacation ephemera. I can probably smuggle a ferret or other small furry animal in there. Not that I want to, or have needed to. Thankfully. Yet.
Potato sack dresses are not the height of style, especially when they’re a size or two too big, but comfort is also never overrated in my books. For $10, this dress delivers all the potato sack-y comfort and then some.
This dress is also pretty versatile, in the sense that it goes well with a lot of different tops. Here’s another way that I wore it in Van (and a peek at the cute cross strap detail in the back):
In love with both of these looks!
Sorry it took me so long to rescue your post from my clearly evil spam filter! And thank you again for the lovely comment – here and on IG 🙂
Love this with the black shirt! Very Fraulein Maria in the best possible way. The hills are alive, indeed.
Hahahaha! The irony is that I can’t sing for s**t. I’m literally tone deaf.
a pinafore dress has been low on my wishlist forever, but this post and your two different looks have pushed it up to the top. SO. DARN. CUTE.
THAT’S WHAT IT’S CALLED!! Thank you, I was struggling with the proper term. It is super cute, I think you would look great in one 🙂
I think the dress is pretty! The pockets are a little big, but I love the ultrafeminine full skirt and the delicate straps on the back. It’s a good reminder that dresses can work for weekend and casual wear – I’m going to have to up my game!
The pockets are ENORMOUS, but perfect if you have little kids. Probably not the most flattering, but practical. I love wearing dresses on weekends, especially in the summer – just go for easily washable fabrics, and you should be good to go.
