This is a slightly different take on one of my fave outfits from last year, reconfigured for colder weather. The cobalt blue/olive green combo is somewhat “out there” but I find it oddly pleasing. And these light grey tights work surprising well here, even though they usually just give my legs a “corpse bride” vibe.

In case you hadn’t noticed its repeated appearances on the blog, this Gucci tote has become my go-to bag for every and all occasions, especially when I’m too lazy to coordinate my bag and outfit. It’s a perfect size for my needs (I can fit an extra pair of office shoes OR a variety of toddler snacks in there), and inconspicuous enough to work in any setting. It’s proven quite sturdy/durable as well, so I would definitely recommend it if you happen to stumble across it on the secondhand market for a good price.

    • Thanks! I had no idea that olive and cobalt was such a popular pairing. I don’t really do a lot of link ups, but that ones def sounds intriguing – thanks for the heads up!

  1. I think one of the reasons why this colour combo works so nicely is that the olive almost pulls towards the brown end of the spectrum when paired with such a vibrant blue. It’s like a modern updated of the classic brown/blue pairing.

    • Good point, I didn’t think of it that way. To be honest, I rarely think about brown pairings, since I have so little brown in my closet (other than tan accessories).

  2. Lol corpse bride! Not at all. I like the whole ensemble. I love my cobalt blue coat – it was a toss up between blue and red a few years ago and blue won out. It’s very out there as you say but it goes with most of my wardrobe. I don’t actually have a “sensible” black winter coat so cobalt blue it is!

    • Cobalt blue is surprisingly versatile! I think even more so than red, perhaps. I do have a sensible black coat, and I never wear it 😉
