For the record, this post is named after the eponymous Jasper Fforde book and not … the other one. Obviously, it’s also inspired by everything going on in this outfit, which is a lot of grey. Colorblocking, minimalist style. Here’s a better look at the dress.

I don’t often wear bright green, but I do love a pop here and there. I don’t think it looks as sharp as red paired with black, but it’s more unexpected. This Kelly green Marc Jacobs bag is an eBay find from last year, and the colour is so wonderfully vibrant even though it’s probably close to a decade old. It’s lined with celery green suede, which is such a lovely touch. Nothing beats old school MJ.

  1. I completely agree about old school MJ. I’ve been eBaying Louis Vuitton pieces that came out during his tenure there–they leave Nicolas Ghesquiere’s (sp?) stuff sitting in the road.

Great outfit. You rock that green!

    • I LOVE some of the Marc Jacobs designs for LV — like my Dentelle speedy. I should look again to see if some of those pieces have come down in price in recent years.
Strangely, most new MJ (or MbMJ) bags don’t really do it for me …

  2. That is a lovely outfit! It is minimalist, but it has enough fun touches – necklace, shoes, bag – that it stays interesting.

  3. I love how you’re wearing the necklace in so many different ways! I was dubious when you first posted it on Instagram, but I’ve been convinced. It’s great!

    • Thanks! I’m trying to get as much use out of it as I can, partially to prove to myself that it was a good impulse purchase, and partially to alleviate the guilt over the price I paid (even though it was all on a gift card — I have weird hang-ups).
