Pants, two days in a row? What is even happening, you guys? I don’t know, but there it is. I felt like taking this Vince sweater out for a spin, and then … got lazy with the rest of the outfit. Or, if you like, went classic and simple. I did pull out these ancient (circa 2008) Enzo Angiolini shoes to match the silver thread in the sweater stripes, so there was a hint of fun.

The weather is befuddling at the moment. The mornings have been legit cool (sub 10 C), and definitely fall-like, but then the afternoons turn broiling (high 20s). No matter what I wear, I’m inadequately dressed for at least one of my commutes. I’m not complaining — even if it reads that way — because I’ll take Mother Nature’s Sybil moment any day over a full-time commitment to Edmonton fall. But in case you’re wondering why my outfits are all over the place (who are we kidding though, that’s nothing new), now you know why.

Oh my gosh, same deal here in Montreal! Cool mornings and hot (sometimes even humid!) afternoons! Been all over the place too 😉
Yeah, 80s F here. It makes me sad because I have a really limited professional wardrobe for warm weather, since I mostly just do research during the summer. It feels like I’m endlessly recycling the same 2 BR skirts circa 2008, waiting to wear all of my awesome fall clothing.
I love those pants, though. They drape really nicely.
I would like to know more about those pants, if possible. I’ve been on what feels like a never-ending hunt for tailored, cropped black pants that don’t come off as leggings from far away. Any chance I could find those Aritzia pants online anymore? (Even though they were thrifted…lucky you!) Thank you!
I would love to tell you a product name, but I have no idea what it is — I’ve tried looking but all T. Babaton pants from Aritzia look the same to me online, LOL! Here’s what I can tell you. The material is a blend of triacetate and polyester, and there is a label which indicates that the fabric is imported from Japan. That seems to narrow the field down somewhat, although I still wasn’t able to find a definitive answer. But the fabric definitely contributes to the more trouser-like vibe, as opposed to the cotton-elastane blend that makes up my BR Sloan pants (which are definitely more in the leggings-lookalike category). Aritzia currently seems to offer a bunch of triacetate blend pants (with fabric from Japan) so I would start by looking at those if you are able to try them on in the store. If you’re ordering online, I’m hesitant to offer any suggestions because I don’t know what Aritzia’s return policy is and I would hate for you to be stuck with some pants that are not what you want.
The other thing I will say is that this particular pair is about one size too big for me at the moment. That also contributes to the overall look/vibe. Because of the way the pants are cut, they fall/drape nicely in their current state (no weird baggy crotch).
