No gonna lie, guys: I’ve been feeling more frazzled than usual this week, and I’m just about tapped out. I feel like I’m behind on everything, and the procrastination is kicking in extra hard as a result. Is burying my head in the sand and pretending everything’s fine an option? Asking for a friend.

Small win this week: it didn’t snow.

You think I’m being sarcastic. I’m not. It was supposed to.

edit: I spoke too soon :/

It dawned on me this week how insane my writing goals for the year truly are. Trying to publish FOUR books, while holding down a (part-time) busy job and the family fort, and maintaining some semblance of a life, and writing new stuff … is a recipe for absolute burnout. Especially coming on top of a year in which I wrote SIX novels. I am never, ever, ever doing this again!

The problem with my AuDHD brain is that, once it has locked in on a goal (cough, hyperfixation, cough), it will not budge. It doesn’t matter if the goal is wholly self-imposed and utterly barmy. I will torture myself endlessly in order to achieve it – even if literally no one else cares one iota. So, we’re two books down and two books to go and I’m white-knuckling the rest of this year’s ride, I guess.

Fingers crossed, soon it will be three and one. I’m a little behind schedule but still aiming to publish The Mysterious Affair at Gaunt Hall in June. After that … well, I probably won’t get too much of a breather just yet, but the end will be one step closer in sight.

I promise I’ve learned my lesson and be more reasonable next year 😉

I haven’t had time to do much ‘fun stuff’ lately, but I am keeping up with my daily pages, aka scrapbooking. It’s one of the things keeping me approximately sane, and also off my phone and doomscrolling. So that’s a win. Hoping to get back to my TBR book pile soon – and I’m also looking for new reccs, so share what you’ve been reading and loving lately, please!

Have a great weekend!
