I found approximately a bazillion killer deals at the very tail end of December, and I didn’t even have to go to the malls to do it. Win win.

First, we have a floral blazer I thrifted during the BCRL brunch ‘n shop; the ladies had to talk me into it, but I’m glad they did – even if it’s not New Look-approved for work, it’s a great piece for weekends. The slouchy/unstructured boyfriend style has a casual vibe, but it’s just dressy enough to sass up a plain tee-and-jeans outfit.

And then, of course, we have the boots.

I present, ahem, the little-seen side view

If you follow me on Instagram, then you’re probably already heartily sick of my gushing about these Frye boots, but you’re outta luck. Because gush I will. Again. And again. They’re pretty dang awesome, you guys – especially considering they cost me $50. I’m not going to tell you that you need to rush out and buy $400 boots because they will change your life, or some such nonsense, but if you happen to find them for under $100 – run, don’t walk, to the cash register.

Possibly my favourite thing about them is how they have started to subtly influence my weekend style. I’ve always had some boho-leanings, but vibe is coming on strong these days thanks to these boots. It’s a nice counterbalance to the New Look. All buttoned-up style all the time makes Adina a dull cranky girl.

Channeling My Inner Audrey

Isaac Mizrahi for Target dress; Audrey Hepburn LBD; Audrey Hepburn black dress; boat neck black dress
Dress, Isaac Mizrahi for Target (via eBay); bag, Chanel (via consignment)

Gah, horrible lighting strikes again! Sorry, you guys. In the interests of authenticity, I never photograph outfits ahead of time, which sometimes leads to this. Sad, sad, sad OOTD photos. By the time I was ready to go (to a fancy schmancy client event), it was way dark and I was stuck taking photos indoors.

Which is a real shame, because I had a really cute outfit. Another cocktail party, another old Target designer collab dress. This one is an Isaac Mizrahi, and it is divine. I hate the ubiquitous references to Audrey Hepburn, but I truly feel this dress deserves one. The neckline nails it, yes? Anyway, as with my Lela Rose for Target dress, this one is really nice quality all things considered. I really, really wish that Target would go back to making designer collabs this good.

The Glamorous Life

What I Wore: Monday Morning

blue collar red lipstick, what i woreblue collar red lipstick, what i wore
T-shirt, Old Navy; cardigan, J. Crew Factory; jeans, Cleo (via consignment); scarf, Aldo Outlet

Really, this could be any Monday morning. And they say there isn’t truth in fashion blogging. Well, if you can call this a fashion blog. But here it is, folks: what an average stay-at-home-mom wears on an average day. An average day when I go out, that is. You don’t want to see what I wear when I stay home all day. Really, you don’t.

My favourite part of this outfit is the scarf, hands down. I hunted for a scarf like this (large waffle knit, not scratchy, infinity style, under $15) for what seemed like months, but more likely was a week or two. It was frustrating, I tell you! I finally found one that matched 90% of my specifications, minus the colour. I wanted black and found this burgundy colour … which turned out to be surprisingly versatile. The universe provides what you didn’t even know you wanted!
