What I Wore: Ice-Cream Date

Anthropologie Dreamy Drape dress; Plenty by Tracy Reese dress
Dress, Anthropologie (via eBay); shoes, Pour La Victoire

A while ago, a reader asked to see this Anthropologie dress sans one of my ubiquitous cardigans, and I aim to please. Also, any excuse to wear this dress is welcome. The construction of the bodice is incredible; it fits and drapes beautifully. It’s totally worth the wearing of a strapless bra, which is an entry level instrument of torture in my books. (FYI, you can adjust the sashy bit in front so it doesn’t look like a boob divider. Oops.) My only caveat is the material; while it has a nice feel to it, it does tend to cling to the body, particularly around the stomach area. If that’s not a concern for you, I hate you. Just kidding. (I merely dislike you, and your washboard abs.)

But, look! It has a nice swishiness to it:

Twirrrrrrl!

More swish:

Wheeeeeee!

Look who’s getting in on the swishing action:

  1. I’m so glad I found your blog through Writes Like a Girl. Your style is fun, and this dress looks dynamite on you. Pretty sure it was made just for you. And gray + pink = an awesome combination.

    • Thanks so much, and welcome!
Grey is a wonderful neutral, less stark than black. I don’t know why I always seem to forget about it.

    • Awww, go on you! You are too kind, but I’ll take every single compliment, thankyouverymuch.
I hope this week is 100% awesome for ya πŸ™‚

  3. Love that dress! It may be clingy but A) you don’t have any figure issues, it looks great on you, and B) I bet it’s super comfy.

  4. You look beautiful though you lost me at strapless bra- only for weddings, and not even my own! I love the contrast of the purse against the soft gray.

    • I know, right? Strapless bras are the worst. I try to avoid them as much as I can; when I wear this dress with a cover-up (like a cardigan), then I’ll just wear a regular bra. In fact, it may be possible to wear a regular bra with this dress all the time, but maybe a more delicate/low-cut style than my usual T-shirt bras (I have really basic bras, LOL!).

    • Do ittttt!! I’m sure you can find it on eBay right now, and I think you would look amazing in it. And, hey, it would be second-hand, so no breaking of the shopping ban …
