I’ve basically lived in this Madewell sweater ever since I thrifted it. It’s my perfect weekend jam. A muted colour that goes with everything in my closet, a nice bit of texture, a comfy loose fit — what more could a woman ask for? The knit is a cotton-viscose-nylon blend, which seems like a random combination, but it’s quite warm and cozy, and not scratchy at all. There is a bit of piling happening, but that’s probably par for the course for mall brands these days. I don’t mind; it adds character, haha.

I’m also wearing my new thrifted J Brand skinny jeans, which are a rather unusual muddled blue wash. Everything else is old, and the outfit is altogether pretty simple, but that’s my weekend mantra. Keep it simple; life provides its own complexities.

  1. I agree that a little piling isn’t always a bad thing. But when it does get out of hand, did you know you could shave it? Literally, shave. Buy a cheap, disposable, single-blade razor and gently shave the little bumps off! It’s a bit time consuming, but slightly therapeutic. I’ve saved many thrifting sweaters this way!

    • Thanks for the tip! I knew about being able to “shave” sweaters, but I thought you needed a special tool. Glad to hear a simple razor can do the trick! I actually find that my one cashmere sweater is the worst for piling, so I might start with that one.
