The Easter Dress

What I Wore: Easter Sunday

Love Moschino floral dress

My posts usually run 2 weeks behind, but I love this dress so much I just had to share. Right. Away. Totally normal blogger behaviour, guys.

So, the dress. Best Winners find in a long, long time – possibly ever. That is a Love Moschino dress, and I will tell you how much I paid for it at the end (because I cannot resist a cliffhanger). It has a lovely floral print, and a forgiving cut, and a very revealing neckline that nevertheless does not look, um, inappropriate. (I’m wearing a tank top underneath to help with that.) And all that adds up to pretty darn near “perfect” in my books. It is 100% polyester, which … lets look at the bright side. It is machine-washable (yay!). It is “made in Italy” polyester, which surely is less polyester-ly than the regular stuff. (I kid. Maybe?) It is not the rough, staticky kind of polyester, so it has a nice hand-feel. Also, it’s lined. It’s, like, practically not even polyester. Hurrah!

Stupid wind messing up my blogger pose … grr!

Of course, it snowed the entire week leading up to Easter, so I had to throw on a cardigan. But it’s still cute! I actually restrained myself for once, and went easy with the accessories; I just added some gumdrop-like earrings:

Oh, I almost forgot. The dress cost $60, marked down from $200 (original retail $400). That’s always nice, isn’t it?

Sentimental Bouquet

What I Wore: Here and There

blue collar red lipstick; Anthropologie floral top; Rebecca Minkoff Cerulean MAC
Pants, NYDJ (via eBay); top, Anthropologie (via eBay); bag, Rebecca Minkoff (via Kijiji)

In news that will surprise no one, I bought this blouse because I fell in love with its print. Florals. Of course. This particular iteration reminds me of the painting on Russian matrioshkas, which remind me of my late grandmother, which makes this a more sentimental attachment than usual. Yet, I’m torn, because I’m actually not sold on the fit of this blouse on me, specifically in the arms. The sleeves are rather puffy. My arms … don’t need help in that direction. But, oh, the print! Indecision time. I think I’ll give it time to grow on me (it is a summer top, after all), but we may have our first contender for next year’s clothing swap. Already. Let’s chalk it up to the risks of buying clothes online, on impulse.

What else? I almost forgot my necklace, probably because it blends a little too well with the blouse. I think I want something similar but with a more modern/edgy vibe and a longer chain. Suggestions, hive mind?

Grandma’s Old Couch

What I Wore: Out of the House (Indeed)

Pants, Anthropologie; sweater, J. Crew; shirt & necklace, Old Navy
Pants, Anthropologie; sweater, J. Crew; shirt & necklace, Old Navy

The title says it all, eh? In my defence (because I kinda love them), my husband convinced me to buy these pants, and in fact paid for them. True story. They’re pretty polarizing pants; you either love them or hate them (and feel free to tell me so on Instagram). Because they are so borderline-wrong, I make it a point to wear them far more often than is probably warranted. Generally speaking, I think my intentions are better than the results but that’s ok – these pants are my sartorial rebellion, if you will.

Strangely enough, I think the weak link of this particular outfit is not grandma’s old couch but the necklace. It’s what they call de trop. I should have followed the old adage, and taken (that) one thing off before leaving the house.
