I call this professor chic, and I love it. I have no idea if actual college professors actually dress like this, ever, but in my imagination they do. Keep in mind that my imagined version of a college campus resembles a late-90s teen rom-com, despite the fact that my actual college experience was infinitely more prosaic; no Heath Ledger lookalikes running around, for one thing. More’s the pity.

Ahem.

You know what I’ve decided? This blazer is the best thing to hit my closet since … the last best thing that hit my closet, which was probably, like, 2 minutes ago. Hyperbole doesn’t really work in this context, because we’re talking about a crowded field, but take it from me: this blazer is bomb awesome. It goes with everything, and it’s just slightly off-beat but still professional-ish, so that I can feel edgy and interesting (?) yet office-appropriate while wearing it.

Also? Delicate jewelry is where I’m at, currently:

OK, now tell me: who was your 90s teen rom-com jam?

Everything Coming Up Floral

YSL Muse Two Tricolour bag; J. Crew hothouse floral
Top, belt & shoes, J. Crew; pants, Banana Republic; necklace, Winners; bag, YSL (via eBay)

I thought this was a nice little outfit, although there isn’t much credit to be had. It’s hard to screw up the patterned top + pants combo, you know? Especially when the top in that equation is this pretty. Love, love, love the colours, and the subtle floral print. If I need to get a little more serious, quickly, I can just throw on a blazer. Like so:

Do I look sassy here or what? I must have been in a good mood … and I can probably tell you why. Exhibit #1, my new bag baby:

check out mah bag!

She arrived 2 weeks ago from Japan, and I adore her. I have a post all about that saga coming up, so consider yourselves warned. Exhibit #2, my new Tai bracelet:

Last, but never ever least, Exhibit #3: a Good Hair Day, which is the best accessory of all. OK, that was basically a perfect day, sartorially speaking. I wish I could find the lesson to be learned here (so I could replicate the results) but I’m drawing a blank. Buy all the bags? Have a blow-out specialist on call? Tell me the secret, universe!

oh, to have hair like this every day!

This Is Spring

Only in Edmonton. Seriously, this happened in one night, two days after the start of “official” spring:

arghhhhhh!

I had been planning to wear this outfit with cute pink flats (and sans vest), but them’s the breaks. As it is, I’m not sure if the cut of these jeans goes with my moto boots, but I was fresh out of options. The reality is that the pants are now one size (or 2?) too big, but I’m just not ready to let them go; so I’m hoping to wear them as boyfriend jeans, which I hope is just a fancy marketing term for “loose”. What say you?

yep, that IS snow *looks again* still snow
