The Faux Dress, pt. 2

I loved how the separates-in-the-same-print thing worked with my beanstalk floral J. Crew pieces, so I found this top at the consignment store, I knew I had to track down the matching skirt. Luckily, eBay came through for me (again) and I got to make this outfit happen. S**t-eating grin? Oh yeah.

Here’s that brooch again. And my new Kendra Scott earrings that I wear at least once a week. The colour is perfect for my blue-suffused wardrobe. I know these KS pieces are all over the blogosphere, and that you’re probably sick of seeing them, but #sorrynotsorry because they really are quite nice for the office – big enough for a nice pop of colour, but work appropriate.

I don’t know what’s happening in this photo, but I do know that I just started wondering about whatever happened to Aqua. On a semi-related note, the court decision in the case of Mattel Inc. v. Aqua is a delight, if you’re ever looking for some snarky (judicial) reading material.

The Favourite

As anyone with even a passing familiarity with this blog knows, I have a lot of clothes. Not surprisingly, I always have a hard time picking “favourites”. This is especially true when it comes to dresses; dresses are still my favourite category of clothing, and I have a lot of pretty ones. Still, I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that this one might just be my favourite. The one dress to rule them all. My preciousssss. But, seriously, it’s awesome.

I have worn this exact same outfit before (and cannot remember if I posted it on the blog or not), but it bears repeating. Again and again. The belt is an ancient H&M piece that barely fits (it never really did – it was the last one I could find in store, and I’m pretty sure its size is meant for someone with Dita Von Teese’s waist measurement), but the vibe is a perfect match for this dress. The dress is now a couple of sizes bigger than strictly necessary, so the belt is a must-have – it gives the dress much needed shape, and a slighly edgier vibe. Love, love. And a dress that goes with leopard print shoes? Sold and done!

You’ve seen this Boden dress before, and I’ll be honest: there is probably nothing new to see in this outfit. But it’s cute, and I get a lot of compliments when I wear it, and my blog standards are laughably ~~low~~ non-existent so … here we are. Enjoy?

Talk about taking all the mystery out of fashion blogging. (Remember what I said about my blog standards?) However, I’ve never shied away from showing the good, the bad, and the ugly (have you seen my archives?!), and you guys might get a laugh – if not any particular inspiration – out of seeing the results of my remixing efforts.
