I mean, I don’t hate it. A blue-based print is never a bad thing in my books closet. I enjoyed the velvety feel of the silk, but was surprised by how staticky it got over the course of the day. Maybe the winter is to blame; the lack of humidity has been playing havoc with my skin and hair, so it only figures that it would do the same with my clothes. Anyway. The Equipment shirt: ‘s alright. Not as OMGamazing as the blogosphere would have you believe, but worth the $40 I paid.

Let’s talk about something more important: I wore sparkly shoes to work. Check it:

In my defense, it was a Friday. I feel like I need a defense because I’m not entirely convinced that these are age-appropriate, or career-appropriate. How seriously would you take someone wearing Tinkerbell shoes? #hypotheticalquestion

Back to the Equipment shirt for a second. It does this weird thing in the sleeve/shoulder/armpit area. I’m not sure what the problem is, but me no likey. I’m generally not a fan of things that remind me of how un-toned my arms are these days. Boo.

I wish I could work in a Wall reference here, if only because … oh, what the hell. (Besides, Kit’s facial expression perfectly nails my feelings about winter. Sad kitteh is sad.)

Where was I? Right, outfit. Sometimes, one loud print is not enough. So, you know, I just add more. These two don’t really go, but in an otherwise fairly coordinated outfit, it’s less likely anyone will notice.

In case you were wondering, I wore this to get the kids’ passport photos taken (absolute hell) and drop in at Indigo so Luka could play with the train-set (it was gone, and he was devastated) and I could pick up Olive Kitteridge. My husband and I watched the HBO adaptation not long ago, and loved it. I haven’t read a fiction book in ages, and thought this might be just the ticket. I haven’t finished it yet, but I’m very much enjoying it.

What are you reading these days?

Channeling My Inner Audrey

Gah, horrible lighting strikes again! Sorry, you guys. In the interests of authenticity, I never photograph outfits ahead of time, which sometimes leads to this. Sad, sad, sad OOTD photos. By the time I was ready to go (to a fancy schmancy client event), it was way dark and I was stuck taking photos indoors.

Which is a real shame, because I had a really cute outfit. Another cocktail party, another old Target designer collab dress. This one is an Isaac Mizrahi, and it is divine. I hate the ubiquitous references to Audrey Hepburn, but I truly feel this dress deserves one. The neckline nails it, yes? Anyway, as with my Lela Rose for Target dress, this one is really nice quality all things considered. I really, really wish that Target would go back to making designer collabs this good.
