missing the (big, chunky, cozy) scarf – in the name of fashun blogging

Yeah, those boots again. This was a date night outfit, so I basically just threw together a bunch of things I love. As a bonus, the Tibi dress has a healthy dose of sexiness to it, which made it very apropos. TMI? Sowwy.

see, the tights were blue … and everything looked less all-the-colours-of-the-rainbow

As you can see in the picture above, my tights really were blue – and not purple – and looked less random in real life. Shooting outfits at dusk (4pm, sob!) is always tricky. I took a chance on (matching) blue tights because my default black ones wouldn’t have worked with this outfit. In fact, I’m not sure how I feel about pairing this dress with black, period. I love its print, but it may prove a little difficult. What would you guys suggest?

Fancy Casual

Shirt, J. Crew (via consignment); vest, Old Navy; pants, American Eagle; boots, Josef Seibel; bag, MbMJ

I might as well rename this blog Fifty Shades of Casual at this point, and call it a day. I’m all out of cute post titles, but you get the gist: it’s all casual, all the time. Or at least until next week. In the meantime, enjoy (?) my umpteenth iteration of fancy lumberjack. It’s fancy because I wore a necklace … you probably can’t see. But it’s there, I promise:

I like this shirt a lot but, damn, that is one busy print.

(If one of you guys makes an 101 Dalmatians joke, we will no longer be friends.)

Match Made in Wardrobe Heaven

Frye distressed Melissa boots; Zara chunky cardigan
Cardigan, Zara (thrifted); dress, Anthropologie (via eBay); boots, Frye; bag, Marc Jacobs

This cardigan was a total thrift store impulse buy. Can you have an impulse buy at the thrift store? Or, conversely (and perhaps more accurately), can you have anything but? Regardless, it was an unusual thrifting purchase for me, because I rarely thrift fast fashion brands, or knits. Thrift store knits are rarely decent, in my experience at least. As a result, I rarely look at that section of the store; luckily, I saw this one on the changing room discards rack and was immediately drawn to it. Someone’s unwanted (twice over) was my gain.

um … ahh … hey, what’s over here

I like it because it’s a chunky version of the open cardigan style I’m really liking at the moment. More importantly, it’s the sweater version of my Frye boots – from the texture and colour (heathered/distressed rich brown) to the vibe (boho chic, naturellement). So, of course, I had to pair them for the cardigan’s inaugural outfit. I even threw in a (poorly executed) side braid, because when it comes to a theme, I commit.

ah, yes, there you are (it’s sunneeee! don’t make me look at the light!)
